My product has very little meat in it and so is not produced under FSIS inspection, but my importer says I need FSIS certification to export it - how is FSIS certification obtained for such products?
The laws on which meat and poultry inspection is based exempt meat and poultry products from FSIS inspection if they contain very small quantities of meat and/or poultry ingredients. See Amenability in the FSIS Standards and Labeling Policy Book.
